SSC CGL 2026 Signature Size & Live Photo Rules
The SSC CGL form does not accept a photo file: it takes your photo live with the camera while you fill in the application. You only need to prepare the signature file. Below are the exact sizes from the official notice, tips for the live photo and a free tool that makes the file for you.
SSC CGL upload requirements
| File | Size (pixels) | File size | Format | Background |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | Taken live by the camera inside the form — no file | |||
| Signature | 709 × 236 px | 10–20 KB | JPG | — |
The notice does not say whether 1 KB is 1000 or 1024 bytes, so our files fit both ways of counting.
SSC CGL live photo: how to do it right
- Your photo is taken live by webcam or phone camera inside the SSC form. Do not upload or photograph an old photo: such forms are rejected.
- Sit in good light in front of a plain wall. Keep the camera at eye level and look straight into it.
- Remove cap, mask, glasses and earphones. Keep your whole face inside the frame on screen, not too close and not too far.
- Wear a shirt and avoid dark or blurred shots. If the camera fails, scan the QR code on the Upload Documents page and use the mobile app.
- On exam day you must look the same as in this photo: staff at the centre compare your face with it.
