RRB photo and signature size 2026: live photo rules and signature converter
Short answer: Railway (RRB) forms — ALP, NTPC, Group D, JE — do not take a photo file: the photo is taken live with the webcam or the phone's front camera inside the form. You upload only the signature: JPG, between 30 and 49 KB, at least 140 × 60 px, signed inside a 35 × 20 mm box.
The tool below makes the signature 276 × 157 px — the 35 × 20 mm box at 200 DPI — and fits the file into 30–49 KB. Tips for the live photo are further down.

3.5 × 2 cm in pixels at different DPI
| DPI | Size (pixels) |
|---|---|
| 100 | 138 × 79 px |
| 150 | 207 × 118 px |
| 200 | 276 × 157 px |
| 300 | 413 × 236 px |
Pixels = centimetres ÷ 2.54 × DPI. The highlighted row is the size selected in the tool. Files made from a size with DPI also store that DPI, so they print at the same size in centimetres.
RRB live photo: how to do it right
- RRB takes your photo live with a webcam or the phone's front camera inside the form. Do not upload or photograph an existing photo.
- Wear dark, non-white clothes so you stand out from the background. Keep the camera at eye level and look straight with a neutral face.
- Keep your whole head and face inside the frame. No cap, mask or glasses. You can preview and retake the photo before you submit.
- The live photo is matched later. If it does not match, you must upload Annexure-IX signed by a Gazetted Officer.
- Keep a colour passport photo, not older than 2 months, for the CBT, document verification and medical.

Questions
What is the RRB signature size in pixels?
RRB gives only a minimum: 140 pixels wide and 60 pixels high, so any bigger size is fine. This tool makes 276 × 157 px, which is the 35 × 20 mm signature box at 200 DPI, and keeps the JPG between 30 and 49 KB.
What is the RRB signature size in cm and mm?
The signature goes inside a box of 35 mm × 20 mm, that is 3.5 × 2 cm. The table above shows it in pixels: 207 × 118 px at 150 DPI, 276 × 157 px at 200 DPI and 413 × 236 px at 300 DPI. At exactly 100 DPI the box is 138 × 79 px, just under the 140 px minimum width, so use 150 DPI or more.
Do I need an RRB photo resizer?
Not for the RRB application form: it takes your photo live, and uploading or photographing an old photo gets the form rejected. Keep a colour passport photo, not older than 2 months, for the CBT, document verification and medical.
RRB live photo is not capturing. What can I do?
Allow the camera when the browser asks, use a webcam or the phone's front camera, sit in good light in front of a plain wall and keep the camera at eye level with your whole face in the frame. You can preview and retake the photo before you submit. Never photograph an old or printed photo.
Why do Railway signatures get rejected?
The notice lists the reasons: background not white, ink not black, signature in BLOCK or CAPITAL letters, poor resolution, signature only partly visible, or a thumb impression instead of a signature. Sign in running (joined) handwriting with a black pen.
Is Roz Taiyari the official RRB website?
No. Roz Taiyari is an independent free tool and is not connected with RRB, Indian Railways or any government body. Apply only on the official website given in the notice, and check the requirements there.
Do you keep my photo or signature?
No. The picture is processed in memory to make the file and deleted right away. We never save it.
